The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site (COHWHS) Public meetings form part of the stakeholder engagement plan for the COHWHS. The meetings provide an opportunity for the Management Authority (MA) to interact with stakeholders in the area, and to share information on ongoing projects and future plans. The meetings include inputs by the local municipal officials. The invitation to attend the meeting is also often extended to the local media, so that they can further report on these plans. Without these meetings the public living in the area would not be aware of the plans for the World Heritage Site. The meetings also fulfill the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) requirements of managing sites with stakeholders. The M.A also uses these meetings to pick up emerging issues of major concern that the public wishes to raise, towards the better development of the World Heritage Site.
